Huzurnagar is an assembly constituency located in the Nalgonda district of Telangana.
As per the 2011 Census data estimates, the constituency has a population of 302,725 with a completely rural population and 0% urban. The Scheduled Caste (SC) total population ratio is 16.98 and that of Scheduled Tribe to total population is 13.97.
In the political realm, Saidi Reddy Shanampudi from the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) is the current MLA from the constituency. He won in 2019 by-elections against Nalamada Padmavathi Reddy from the Indian National Congress (INC) by a margin of 43,358 votes.
The 2019 by-elections were held owing to the resignation of then incumbent MLA Uttam Kumar Reddy Nalamada from INC, who left after being elected MP from the Nalgonda constituency. He had won by a margin of 7,466 against TRS’ Sanampudi Saidireddy. The voter turnout in this assembly election was 86.95%. The total number of voters were over 1.93 lakhs, having over 96 thousand males and over 97.38 thousand females.
Uttam Kumar Reddy Nalamada was also the winning candidate in 2014 assembly elections. He won against Kasoju Shankaramma from the TRS by a margin of 23,924 votes.
The 2023 assembly elections polling in Telangana is set to begin on November 30 for 119 constituencies with final counting on December 3.
