Moubani Sorcar enchants as Goddess Durga in dance drama

Women issues have always been a highlight for Kolkata. Keeping in mind the issue of atrocities on women, Onno Agomoni — a contemporary dance drama based on invoking stree shakti — was presented at a city auditorium recently. “Playing Ma Durga was an honour and also a brilliant experience, more so because I could show my classical dance skills. I am glad that choreographers in the city are not limiting Mahishasur Mardini shows just to Durga Puja, but are invoking Devi Durga at a time so many women are being abused with increasing alacrity,” said Moubani Sorcar, who played Durga.
This was followed by Kathakali, Odissi and Manipuri performances by Kalamandalam Goutam, Arnab Bandyopadhyay and Suman Sarawgi. Noted painter Eleena Banik graced the occasion along with small screen actor Sneha Chatterjee.
