Jakob Chychrun surprises wife Olivia Chychrun with her dream G-Wagon, swaps Tesla out for health reasons

Washington Capitals defenseman Jakob Chychrun is in the headlines both on and off the rink. After just signing a whopping eight-year, $72 million contract extension, Chychrun has now made a major personal choice—swapping his Tesla out due to health and wellness issues. But it was more than letting go of an electric car. Chychrun took the opportunity to do something special—unexpectedly gifting his wife, Olivia, her dream vehicle: a Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon.

“We actually bought a new car a few weeks ago,” Chychrun said, talking about the transition, according to RMNB. “We had a Tesla for a while that we’ve wanted to get rid of. We’re pretty big — as you guys know, we talk about our health and wellness a lot — we just had a weird feeling about sitting on a battery all day in the car, so we wanted to get rid of the Tesla and move on from the electric. And I got my wife her dream car, which was a G-Wagon.”
The duo recently tied the knot at a stunning Mediterranean-themed wedding at a luxurious Phoenix resort. The bride and groom, who got married on February 15, 2025, maintained a private ceremony with close friends and family members in attendance. Now, they posted never-before-seen wedding pics from their special day, treating the fans to a glimpse of their classy and romantic affair. The announcement was made amid Jakob Chychrun having a career-best season with the Capitals. On the ice, his play has been outstanding, and his devotion to health and wellness remains strong in his off-ice existence.
