Samay Raina appears before Maharashtra Cyber Cell after three summons in ‘India’s Got Latent’ controversy
Comedian Samay Raina and his show India’s Got Latent created a massive uproar in February after social media influencers Ranveer Allahbadia, Apoorva Mukhija, Ashish Chanchlani, and a few others made obscene remarks during the show. Following the backlash, the National Commission for Women (NCW) and Maharashtra Cyber Cell took legal action, summoning the creators to record their statements.
Despite being summoned twice, Samay Raina failed to appear, leading to a third summon. On March 24 (Monday) morning, the comedian finally appeared before the Maharashtra Cyber Cell in Navi Mumbai to record his statement, as reported by India Today.
While Ranveer Allahbadia and Apoorva Mukhija complied with NCW’s summon, Raina missed the hearing due to his ongoing Canada tour for his comedy show. After failing to appear on March 19, the authorities instructed him to be present on March 24. Earlier, Raina had requested the authorities to allow him to record his statement via video conferencing, but the agency rejected his request.

As the controversy intensified, Raina’s upcoming shows were rescheduled. On March 20, he took to Instagram to inform his fans about the changes, ensuring that all ticket holders would receive refunds. His shows had reportedly been sold out before the rescheduling.
The backlash against India’s Got Latent started after Ranveer Allahbadia made a controversial remark about parental s*x, and Apoorva Mukhija made an inappropriate comment about female anatomy. Their statements sparked outrage, leading to multiple FIRs against the creators. Following the legal actions and widespread criticism, all episodes of the show were deleted from YouTube.
