Adam Sandler is heading back to the golf course in Happy Gilmore 2. Recently it was announced that the comedy sequel will start streaming on July 25, 2025. Fans of the original movie have been waiting a long time for Sandler to bring back the popular character, and now it’s finally happening.
Netflix confirmed that Happy Gilmore 2 will be released exclusively on their platform. This means fans around the world will be able to watch it from home on the same day. The movie is directed by Kyle Newacheck, who has worked with Sandler before on Murder Mystery. Sandler co-wrote the film’s script with Tim Herlihy, his longtime collaborator who also worked on the first Happy Gilmore. Dennis Dugan, the director of the original 1996 movie, has joined the team as an executive producer for the sequel.
Although Netflix hasn’t revealed much about the story, they did release a trailer giving fans a sneak peek of what to expect. The teaser shows Sandler as Happy Gilmore, now older and questioning whether he still has what it takes to compete against the best players in professional golf. In the preview, Happy struggles with his confidence but eventually decides to take another shot at glory. The trailer hints at plenty of surprises and laughs along the way.
Several familiar faces from the first movie are returning for the sequel. Julie Bowen, who played Virginia Venit, and Christopher McDonald, famous for his role as Shooter McGavin, are both back. Ben Stiller, who had a small but memorable role in Happy Gilmore, is also returning. Along with them, some new stars are joining the cast, including musician Bad Bunny and NFL star Travis Kelce. Sandler’s real-life daughters, Sadie and Sunny Sandler, will also appear in the film.
Fans of golf will be excited to see real professional players like John Daly, Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy, and Bryson DeChambeau making cameos in the movie. With such a big lineup, Happy Gilmore 2 promises to be a fun, entertaining movie for both old fans and new audiences.
Happy Gilmore 2 will be available to stream on Netflix starting July 25, 2025.
