Ex MLB pitcher Octavio Dotel rescued after nightclub roof collapses in Dominican Republic

Former MLB pitcher Octavio Dotel was present at the Jet Set nightclub in Santo Domingo when its roof collapsed during a performance by singer Rubby Perez. Dotel was found under debris but survived. Tragically, the incident resulted in at least 13 fatalities and numerous injuries, with 93 ambulance transfers reported as rescue efforts continue.

A former MLB pitcher, Octavio Dotel, who had played for at least 13 teams during his 15-year career, was found under debris in the Dominican Republic. The incident took place at a nightclub when the roof collapsed.

It has been reported that the MLB player Octavio Dotel was found alive, despite being stuck under the debris. Investigating officials confirmed that rescue efforts were underway in connection with the matter.

A video in connection with the matter also went viral later, where the people can be seen enjoying music and are dancing, when all of a sudden there was a blackout as the roof collapsed. The incident took place at Jet Set nightclub and singer Rubby Perez was performing when the incident took place.
As per NBC News, at least 13 people are dead after the roof of a Santo Domingo nightclub collapsed early Tuesday morning, according to local Dominican Republic police.
Dominican Republic National Police have also confirmed that there were 93 ambulance transfers to different hospitals in search and rescue efforts underway in the incident area.
Right after the incident went viral, MLB Insider Mike Rodriguez shared an update regarding Octavio Dotel
He took to X to share the update where he said:
“According to sources, former professional baseball player Octavio Dotel was inside the Jet Set nightclub, enjoying the celebration of singer Ruby Pérez.”
He further said:
Unfortunately, a tragic incident occurred when the roof of the venue collapsed. Multiple fatalities and injuries were reported at the scene.”
"He's the only person because he thinks he's got more drip than me. That's the only thing. Aaron Judge is not going to look better than me. See like, that day he was dressed like the president, but I was dressed like a superstar. It's two different things.”

Octavio Dotel‘s 15 year long career

Born in the Dominican Republic in 1973, Octavio Dotel began playing in Major League Baseball back in 1999.
In his 15 year long career, Dotel had played with the New York Mets, Houston Astros, Oakland Athletic, New York Yankees, Kansas City Royals, Atlanta Braves, Chicago White Sox, Pittsburgh Pirates, Los Angeles Dodgers, Colorado Rockies, Toronto Blue Jays, St. Louis Cardinals, Detroit Tigers. He was a brilliant pitcher with a 3.78 ERA, 1,143 strikeouts, 109 saves, and 59 wins.
