Kochi: Senior Congress leader Sooranad Rajasekharan, 75, passed away at a private hospital here on Friday. Rajasekharan, who was a member of the political affairs committee of KPCC, also served as the president of the state sports council. Rajasekharan contested once each in the Parliament and the legislative assembly elections.
Born in Sooranad in Kollam district, Rajasekharan began his political career as a KSU activist at DB College, Sasthamkotta. Later, he became a state committee member of KSU and Youth Congress. He also worked as a journalist and became the president of the Kollam Press Club.
He served as a director representing the central govt on the board of LIC of India and was the managing editor of Veekshanam daily newspaper, the mouthpiece of Congress. He wrote two books titled ‘Changing Indian Politics' and ‘Indian Politics-2019'.
He is survived by his wife, Udaya Rajasekharan, and children Lakshmi, Nishanth Menon, Arun Ganesh, and Devi.
