Sunny Deol’s Jaat struggles in North America as it mints only Rs 2.75 crore in 4 days

Sunny Deol's latest film, Jaat, is underperforming at the North American box office, earning only USD 319,000 in four days, falling short of its USD 1.4 million breakeven point. While the film has done reasonably well in India, grossing Rs 40.25 crore, its appeal is limited outside the Hindi heartland.

Sunny Deol’s latest film Jaat is showing mixed results at the North American box office . The film has managed to mint only about USD 319,000 (approximately Rs 2.75 crore) in four days in the region. In the first three days the film earned about US $ 241,000 and on the fourth day till early evening it added another US $ 78000 to its kitty. This figure falls significantly short of expectations, especially with the film’s breakeven point reportedly pegged at USD 1.4 million. At the current pace, it looks like Jaat might end up being a losing proposition internationally.
Despite the underwhelming response overseas, the film has performed reasonably well in India, thanks to a strong Sunday that lifted its overall domestic collection to Rs 40.25 crore. The action-packed drama, which banks heavily on Sunny Deol’s mass appeal and rustic screen presence, drew decent footfalls in Northern circuits such as Punjab, Haryana, and parts of Uttar Pradesh. These regions have traditionally been strongholds for Deol, and Jaat appears to be capitalizing on that loyal fan base.
However, the film’s limited appeal outside the Hindi heartland and weak performance in metro cities are causes for concern. The film even received mixed to good reviews but lack of major promotional buzz may have also contributed to its uneven performance.

Internationally, the film seems to be struggling to find resonance with the Indian diaspora, which has shown a stronger tilt in recent years toward content-driven or high-gloss commercial cinema. Unlike Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2, which opened to massive numbers and nostalgic buzz in Indian , Jaat lacked the same pre-release hype and emotional connect, which might be hampering its prospects.
It would be interesting to see how the film would fare from here on in India and overseas and how much ground it can cover to minimise the losses.Sunny Deol has some big films lined up in the future from Border 2 with Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh and Ahan Shetty to Ramayan with Ranbir Kapoor and Yash to Lahore 1947 with Aamir Khan and Preity Zinta.
