Actress, entrepreneur, and social media influencer
Disha Madan embraces Women’s Day as a personal celebration. Sharing her joy, she reveals, "At home, Women's Day is a celebration of me. Especially after having kids, it has become even more special because they get me cake, greetings, and everything. It’s a family time—we go for lunch or dinner to celebrate."
Support System at Work and Home
Disha feels fortunate to have been surrounded by people who value women in both her professional and personal life. "I have been fortunate enough to work with people who give importance to women. They have been very supportive since the beginning of my career," she shares.
Her home life is equally encouraging, thanks to her husband. "I have a supportive family. My husband takes up daddy duties when I am off for a shoot," she says, emphasizing the importance of shared responsibilities in modern households.
Women in the Industry: Breaking Stereotypes
While Disha appreciates the progress made, she believes the industry still has a long way to go when it comes to offering diverse roles to women. "I feel women should be given more challenging roles. Even now, they are often given stereotypical roles, and that is something I feel is lacking," she states.
Speaking about the market dynamics, she acknowledges the commercial realities of the film industry. "The market is still dominated by hero-oriented movies because that’s what sells. People also feel they want to watch movies like that, so we can’t entirely blame the makers for it. But I do hope to see a shift where female-led narratives get the same importance."
On Financial Independence: 'Women Must Ace It'
As an entrepreneur herself, Disha strongly advocates for economic independence among women. "It is very important to have the knack for business, and once you do, you must ace it," she asserts.
She believes financial independence is not just about self-sufficiency but also about freedom. "We don’t need to be dependent on anyone for anything, not even to give explanations or reasons for buying something as simple as a personal need. It’s about having control over your own life and decisions."
Disha’s journey as an actress, businesswoman, and social media influencer serves as an inspiration to many. On this Women’s Day, she stands as a testament to the power of self-worth, support systems, and financial freedom, paving the way for women to be celebrated every day.
Disha is currently portraying the character of Bhavana in the daily soap
