Congress backs OBC census demand in Goa

Panaji: Congress stands in “unwavering solidarity” with Goa’s OBC community’s demand for a caste-based census, said state party president Amit Patkar after meeting a Bhandari Samaj delegation.
“This is not merely a demand, but a necessity for ensuring that every section of society receives its due share in resources, representation, and opportunities,” said Patkar. He accepted the memorandum submitted by the Bhandari Samaj about the growing sentiment among backward communities for recognition, dignity, and data-driven policies.
Patkar said that Congress will work to restore balance and equity in governance by giving voice to the underrepresented, advancing this demand for justice and empowerment of OBCs at both state and national levels.
